01 — The Place
In the tranquil embrace of the Kumaon hills, a short walk from Bhimtal Lake yet far from the noise of the town.
The Barns began with a simple idea — that the rough-hewn craft of the mountains and the comfort of a fine hotel need not be strangers. Stone gathered from the hillside, pine cut for the roofs, and inside, the quiet luxury of a room that asks nothing of you but to rest.
Our guests tell us it feels like a five-star stay. We prefer to think it simply feels like the hills, done well.

Our kitchen cooks the food of the mountains — unfussy, fragrant and generous. Breakfast arrives as the mist clears; dinner is served in the garden, on the rooftop, or quietly to your balcony.
Guests return again and again to the evening tea laid out as the sun drops behind the ridge.

The journey
Three ways in
By Air
Pantnagar Airport (PGH) is the nearest, about 58 km away, roughly two hours by road. Dehradun and Delhi airports connect onward by car. We're glad to arrange a transfer.
By Rail
Kathgodam is the closest railhead, about 26 km below us, with overnight trains from Delhi. From the station it's a scenic hour's drive up into the hills.
By Road
Around 300 km from Delhi via Haldwani, a six to seven hour drive that turns beautiful the moment you enter the Kumaon. Free parking is on the property.
